Impact of the Alliance

Impacts of activity on pupil outcomes: 2013 to 2015

The Gants Hill Partnership Teaching Alliance (GHPTA) is a group of local Redbridge schools who work closely together to improve outcomes for our pupils. The four core members of the GHPTA are Gearies, Cranbrook, St Augustine’s and Highlands Primary Schools. The success of this professional learning community is demonstrated in the extremely positive impact it has had on the attainment and progress of pupils in the Alliance’s core schools. The GHPTA provides access to a range of high quality professional development for staff in those schools which has clearly made a real difference to pupil outcomes.

The tables below summarise the impact on pupil outcomes between 2013 and 2015. The tables clearly demonstrate that, over this period, attainment of pupils at EYFS, KS1 and KS2 has progressed much faster than both the Redbridge and national average.

EYFS

Between 2013 and 2015, the average total points score in EYFS showed an increase of 9% in core schools against the national average of 1.5%. While, at 12.5%, the increase in pupils achieving a good level of development is slightly below the national average, the actual percentage of children achieving that good level of development is over 7% higher than both the Redbridge and national averages. The considerable progress in the core schools has benefited from the improved pedagogy emerging from the GHPTA’s Early Years Pedagogy Network.

Year 1 Phonics

Both overall attainment and the percentage increase since 2013 in year 1 phonics exceed the Redbridge and national averages.

Key Stage 1 Results

The percentage of children achieving at least a level 2 at Key Stage 1 is higher than the national average in reading, writing and maths, as is the percentage increase since 2013. The results across the core schools are particularly notable in reading and writing, which are 4% and 5% respectively above the national average.

Key Stage 2 Results

The results at Key Stage 2 (showing those pupils achieving at least a level 4) continue this positive pattern. In reading, writing and maths the percentage increase between 2013 and 2015 has been impressive: between 6% and 9%. In 2013, attainment was below both the Redbridge and national average. The results in writing and maths now exceed those comparators, while in reading (which has benefited from the GHPTA’s highly successful reciprocal reading programme), attainment has surpassed the national average and, against Redbridge schools, the gap has closed very significantly.
